On 11 November Liberator, bureau number 32032, (Lt. Brownell) of VB-103 failed to return from anti-submarine patrol.  At 0317 the plane radioed "Am over enemy submarine."  Nothing further was heard.  Planes were diverted to his estimated position and the area of his patrol was searched with no results.  While searching the same area on 12 November two aircraft of VB-103 sighted a long narrow oil slick 75 yards wide and 350 yards long containing several small orange or yellow objects resembling parts of an aircraft.
