      Danger area exists off Cape Otway 38°53'S 143°30'E for an area of 30 nm radius. stop  All ships must keep clear. =
       
2) 8 November, 1047 MGZ
    Melbourne Radio at 11.35 hours to all English merchant ships (GBMS)
      From Australian Commonwealth Naval Board =
       
      Port Phillip and Bass Strait are closed to all shipping until further orders.  stop  Ships proceeding through this area are to make for the nearest convenient port. =
       
3) 8 November, 10.38 hours MGZ
    Melbourne Radio at 11.43 hours GMT to all English merchant ships (GBMS):
      From Australian Commonwealth Naval Board =

      Steamer sunk off Wilson's Promontory by explosion by possible mine.  All ships avoid this vicinity.

      For SYDNEY STAR only.
      Proceed nearest port of Signal Station outside of Bass Strait and report yourself by V/S/ (Visual Signal) to state indented movement.

      My 1047 8th November.  Bass Strait is open to traffic commencing daylight Thursday 14 November.  All ships are to call an Australian port for routing instruction before entering the Bass Strait.

    VI (Perth) to GBMS 5 cde 22.
      For all ships which have not received routing instructions later than 12 November are to call at an Australian port for revision of routing instructions before entering the Bass Strait.
