Report of the Ships' Administrative Officers on the supply

of U.A. with Provisions, Canteen Goods and Soap at Sea.

=======================================

Ship 33 was outfitted with provisions to supply two submarines for 6 weeks each. The Command had no influence on the extent and nature of the composition.
The provisions, canteen goods and the soap were provided by the Navy Catering Office, provided separately for each boat in standardized boxes.  Loading took place in Kiel and went smoothly.  Since it was planned that the outfitting should also be delivered as it was taken over, it was only loaded in quantities.

The outfitting was divided as follows:
  1)  6 identical weeks outfitting.  Each 1 week outfitting is packed in 17 consecutively numbered boxes.
  2)  There were also 6 boxes, mainly with catering items for the evening allowances for 6 weeks.
  3)  2 boxes with canteen goods for 6 weeks.
  4)  8 cases with washing powder for 6 weeks.

At the instigation of the Command, 1200 bottles of beer and 1000 bottles of seltzer were also taken for each boat.
The boxes remain locked as they were received from the Catering Office, and no observations could be made of their contents.
2 days before the per-arranged meeting with the U-boat, when the sea was calm, six-weeks outfitting was stowed in a conveniently located room for delivery.
When the U-boat was met, it announced it wanted to stake over provisions for 3 weeks. The amount and composition of the provisions received by the U-boat did not correspond to the provisions made available for them.  The intended type of supply outfitting was not known to the U-boat.  It was not involved in putting together the supply outfitting.
The supply outfitting previously only taken over in terms of the number of boxes has therefore now also been taken over into own inventory in terms of reckoning. The U-boat was equipped from ship stocks.  All together the outfitting required by the U-Boot was significantly less

  than that originally intended.
The supply of provisions in standardized boxes has proven to be very useful.  However, a weekly compilation makes sense if the U-boat was not involved. It then of course has to calculate the supply to be made according to its own menu. However, this requirement cannot then match the provisions made available.
Choosing the required provisions from the provisions that were provided separately by weeks took some time. For delivery to the submarine, however, this did not have a detrimental effect, since the provisions were not supplied in a separate manner, but as the oil and weapon supplements allowed.
For the time they were lying together, the requested meat and bread was given to the U-boat every day.  The rest of their own fresh potatoes, around 450 kg, were also delivered.
The provided canteen goods were also only partially requested. The rest was taken over into our own canteen.
Soap powder was not required.  From our own stocks 50 bars of seawater soap were delivered.
The beer taken with was only given to the U-boat to the extent that the daily requirement could be provided in a chilled manner.  1000 bottles of seltzer water were given to the U-boat in on last day
In addition to the supply of the outfitting, the cleaning of the boat and body wishes as well as the expected repair work on it were prepared even before the meeting with the submarines.  The requirements made in this wish are significantly lower than expected and could be fully met.
1 pith helmet and 2 pairs of canvas shoes were handed over from the clothes locker.
