1. In
connection with the transfer of German Navy prisoners of war received
at Boston, Massachusetts, on 17 May 1945, the following report is submitted: |

2. German
Navy Prisoner of War Officer, Kapitanleutnant Steinhoff, Fritz, 1G-445NA,
committed suicide on 19 May 1945 by severing an artery in his wrist with
a broken piece of eyeglass and a wire which apparently came from his cap.
A board of officers is being appointed to investigate this death, and
a report of its findings will be forwarded to your office. |

3. Transfers
indicated in paragraph 1 above were made from Boston, Massachusetts, on
19 May 1945. |
|
|
|
|
|
4. Attached
are two (2) complete rosters with the names of the officer transferred
to Fort George G. Meade and the suicide indicated, and WD, PMG Form No.
2 of Steinhoff. |
