PLATE XI - TESTING GEAR
The Isolationmesser is used to test the integrity of each circuit and determine that there are no short circuits. The dial (1) is set to determine which circuit is to be tested as follows:

When the dial (1) is set, the result is read on the Ohmeter above it.
Dial (2) shows the pulse of the direct current; dial (3) shows the speed of revolution of the generator.
Dials (4,5,6,7) are voltmeters and ammeters for the 38-32 volt circuit and 220-230 volt circuit produced by the generator.
Dial (9) shows the voltage of the ELSTER battery (28-32 volts) and dial (10) the current consumption of the motor.
In the lower left corner of the ELSTER, the red and blue lamps indicate whether the steering mechanism is working properly, flashing red (starboard) and blue (port). The "Z" switch cuts in the "Z" magnet which cuts out the gyro for acoustic control.
