  The Commander-in-Chief,                                                                       S E C R E T
             Rosyth.

I am to transmit for your information and remarks the attached report of preliminary interrogation of the Commanding Officer of U.2326

  2.        It seems probable that this U-boat was detected by H.M.Ships VALSE and NEWPORT on 23rd April, that it attempted to torpedo the S.S. SVERNE HELMERSEN in tow, and may also have torpedoed the U.S.S. HORACE BINNEY.

  3.        It is further noted that this U-boat was apparently on the surface from 2250/23rd to 0010/24th.

  4.        It is intended to analyse this and other U-boats' actions more fully, and I am to request that your remarks may indicate relevant details of air and surface anti-U-boat measures in the area for the period 23rd April to 8th May, 1945.
